ABIT SLOTKET INCOMPATIBILITY WARNING

There's the culprit. It's an Abit Slotket !!! (or Slotket III, pick your favorite) etched "V.081" on the back along the left edge.
Note: The version number is NOT the number on the sticker!
This Slotket is incompatible with Abit VT6X4 motherboards.
If you have an Abit VT6X4 mainboard and this Slotket with a Coppermine processor, you are probably
experiencing severe system instability including, but not limited to:
- Fatal exception 0E
- Fatal exception 0D
- Crashes to desktop when running applications (including games).
- File system error (1026)
- Explorer crashes: Explorer has caused an invalid page fault ...
- Total system lockup
I switched to an MSI "CPU Converter Board"(MS-6905) and the problems went away. Other slotkets that reportedly solve the problem:
Later version Abit Slotket (V.083), Asus socket converter, some generic brands.
Abit does not acknowledge this incompatibility, but you be the judge. Let me know if it works for you.
